Family as Inspiration

Patricia K. Gillette

Family first.  Yes, it is true!  One of the questions I am frequently asked is, “How did you manage a healthy family, a happy marriage, brilliant kids AND a thriving law practice as a full-time partner at global law firms?”  My not-so-secret recipe? You must have a vision, a strategy and a plan.  For example, if you want to have dinner with your kids, plan for it, make it a priority, enjoy a relaxed dinner and work after the kids are in bed.

My family continues to be my pride and joy and inspiration.  My eldest son was an Amherst undergrad and graduated summa cum laude in mathematics.  He has a PhD in mathematics from University of Texas and is now an assistant professor of mathematics at University of Arizona.  He met his wife Epiphanie while at UT where she received her law degree.  After working as a corporate attorney in private practice, she accepted a position as an Administrator for the University of Arizona, in the office for the Responsible Conduct of Research.

Andrew Gillette My youngest son went to Middlebury College and graduated magna cum laude with highest honors in Economics and a minor in Russian.  He went on to earn a Masters in Public Policy from the Kennedy School at Harvard, has a Rockefeller Fellowship and works in New York City as one of the country’s experts on social impact bonds.

My amazing husband of 40 years shares the passion of law, and most recently has held the position of Chief Assistant Attorney General,  Criminal Division for the Office of the California Attorney General.
